IT Support Manager at Tianjin International School (TIS)
He has already started training one day a week, and as soon as our classes end at our university in early July, he will begin working at TIS full time. While he will still be working in an education environment, he will spend all of his time doing what he loves - working with computers, organizing people and workflow, and building a stronger, smoother department.
One of the main reasons Matt decided to take this job is because it is in Tianjin. So next year, Angel will continue to work at our current university (Tianjin Foreign Studies University), and we can keep our current housing. Not having to move midway through Angel's master's program is a definite plus! TIS is close enough to TFSU and our apartment that Matt can take the subway there in about 25 minutes. Since he has to leave so early in the morning, there is plenty of room on the subway and he can even get some Chinese studying in on his way to work.
It will be a weird transition for us to get used to Matt being back at an 8 - 5 job (actually he has to be there by 7:30) and not seeing each other during the day every day, but we're both excited that Matt will be able to work in a field he is more excited about. Please lift us up before the Father as we adjust to this new schedule and learn how to make the most of the time we will have together.
This new job also means a change in our travel home this summer. Read more in our visiting home update.
